Most projects do not require a permit, however it is the homeowner’s responsibility to ensure permit requirements with their proposed project. Concrete is considered permanent landscaping which does not require a building permit in most municipalities. Projects such as patios, sidewalks, and driveways/driveway replacements usually do not require a permit. If you are disturbing any city sidewalk or driveway apron, a permit may be required. Any necessary permits must be pulled by the homeowner.
FAQS
Will there be landscape damage?
Since we will need to access your area with a Bobcat for excavation, some landscape damage is likely to occur. We do our best to create minimal damage, but cannot guarantee there will be no damage.
Do you do any landscaping after the concrete project is complete?
No, we do not. The homeowner is responsible for any landscaping that may be required after their concrete project is completed. Often times, this is simply filling in around your concrete with topsoil and seed, but in some cases more significant landscape may be required, such as a retaining wall. We recommend consulting with a landscaper if you believe you will need landscape work after the concrete is poured!
Will my concrete crack?
Yes, you will most likely see some cracking in your concrete at some point in time (often early on). Cracking in concrete is normal. We install control joints in all concrete which are designed to control the cracking, however, even properly poured and jointed concrete can crack. These are considered “random cracks”, and it is important to understand that these do not affect the concrete structurally, and are not indications of poor craftsmanship.
